‘Birch at sunset’ is part of the Barnet tree portrait series. This is a linocut printed using the reduction technique: multiple layers of colour are each cut and printed from the same block. Once the print is finished, and so much has been cut away for each layer, the block can have very little lino remaining. Reduction prints are by their nature limited editions, and this is an edition of fifteen prints.
